This week, we are proud to recognize National School Counseling Week and celebrate our school counselor, Sam Runyan, for the incredible work he does for our students and school community.

This is Sam’s first year at Declo Junior High, and he has already made a meaningful impact. Sam works closely with students through regular check-ins, offering support, encouragement, and a listening ear when they need it most. He also plays a key role behind the scenes by creating student class schedules and helping ensure our school runs smoothly.
In addition, Sam is leading the planning for our upcoming Career Day, giving students opportunities to explore future pathways and think about life beyond junior high. He also started an after-school Dungeons & Dragons Club, creating a fun and inclusive space for students to connect, collaborate, and build friendships. On top of that, Sam oversees Student Council, helping student leaders grow their voice and take an active role in our school community.
Sam has been a fantastic addition to our staff, and we are grateful for the energy, care, and dedication he brings to Declo Junior High every day. Please join us in thanking Sam Runyan for all he does to support our students, not just this week, but all year long.
