Dr. Pugh is in his 16th year of teaching bands and orchestras at Burley Junior High and ALL four Burley elementary schools to include Mountain View, Dworshak, White Pine, and John Evans Elementary. He has a Doctor of Arts degree in Trumpet Performance/Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO (2002). He also holds a Master (1996) and bachelor's degree (1992) in Trumpet Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He received his Associate of Arts degree in Fine Arts from Fullerton College in Fullerton, CA (1989).

Dr. Pugh has played professionally across the world in a career that spans more than three decades. He has toured Japan, recorded albums with Fullerton College, UNLV, and UNC Greeley Lab Bands and performed live with Maynard Ferguson, Wayne Bergeron, Bobby Shew, Marlena Shaw, Charo, Phyllis Diller, Wayne Newton, Vic Damone, Jack Jones, the Fifth Dimension, Jerry Lewis, Louis Bellson, and many others. He has recorded five CDs with top collegiate Jazz Programs as Lead and Split Lead Trumpet. Dr. Pugh has performed live for the International Association of Jazz Educators Conference in New Orleans and the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Indiana. He enjoys teaching Taekwondo, raising his family, performing in jazz venues, and gardening. Dr. Pugh currently serves as Principal Trumpet for the Mini Cassia Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mini Cassia Brass Quintet
