Students planting trees for Arbor Day at White Pine Elementary

April 27th, White Pine observed Arbor Day! All the 4th grade classes were invited to the gym to watch a presentation on how important trees are to daily living. Gary Bates from the South Community Forestry presented a plaque to Steve Ormond, the mayor of Burley, for being a Tree City for 23 years. The Lorax even came and everyone watched the story of the Lorax by Dr. Suess together! The 3 classes of fourth graders wrote about their favorite tree. The tree committee from the city read the essays & three students were selected to read their stories and received a plaque for their efforts. After the presentation, all 4th graders were instructed to go outside to help plant the four trees which were bought from Teton Trees. To finish out the event, Stokes donated cookies shaped like trees for students and staff to enjoy!
