We have recently been made aware of a couple of important road construction and traffic control issues that will affect traffic flow surrounding some of our schools within Burley city limits.
First, the HAWK system, which is the red light that assists in helping students cross at 19th Street and Overland Avenue by Dworshak Elementary, is no longer working properly. The City of Burley is working on getting the light repaired, but they are unable to get the part to fix it at the moment, so it may be this summer before it will be up and running again. In the meantime, please be extra cautious when driving past the intersection by the school to ensure that we are watching for students and pedestrians who may be crossing.
Next, there will be a road closure due to road construction between 27th Street and Overland Avenue by Mountain View Elementary beginning February 2nd. This closure will last 6-8 weeks and will disrupt the flow of traffic as we travel to and from school. Please be mindful of this as you are traveling.
Thank you for helping us do everything we can to keep our students and community safe!
