- Cassia County School District 151
Rather than determine what you might want to look at, we have included the link to South Central Public Health District and their COVID-19 Vaccine page.
Vaccines will be made available for teachers and staff and managed through our district nurse, Laurie Stimpson.

THE HOSPITALS IN SOUTHERN DAHO CONTINUE TO STABILIZE
Across the hospitals in Southern and Eastern Idaho, we are seeing capacity increase and those admitted due to Covid-19 decrease. That is great news and I hope it continues. Thank you for your efforts to encourage masks and distance.
WHAT IS THE NEW VARIANT OF COVID?
You may have read there is a new variant spreading across the world that is now dominant in England and present in over 30 countries. We have cases reported in California, Colorado, and Florida. So far, it is believed that this new variant is much more contagious than the original novel coronavirus. The good news is that it doesn’t appear to be more deadly or cause you to be more sick. It is also believed that the vaccine will still protect you against it, though that answer is not definitive.
There is concern this could sweep across the country and infect more people, which could increase hospitalizations and deaths. But if we can hang in there and wear our masks and then get the vaccine when it’s available, hopefully we can stop this from wreaking more havoc.
RUMORS AND CONFUSION ABOUT THE VACCINE
I have heard a lot of false information about the vaccines that is so unfortunate. Below is a great article that outlines the Pfizer vaccine with 8 questions you may have about it and answers to them. The answers in here are basically the same for the other vaccine made by Moderna. I think it would be worth your time to read through this so you can help answer questions people may have.
WHEN CAN I GET THE VACCINE AND HOW MANY IS NEEDED FOR HERD IMMUNITY?
Dr. Fauci estimates that we need 75-85% of the population to get the vaccine in order for life to return to normal. I don’t have a good answer of if or when we could get there. But I am hopeful.
The state is managing their supply of vaccine in 4 stages. Here is a PDF from Idaho’s coronavirus website that you may find helpful to print off for your teams. When-can-I-get-a-COVID-vaccine-in-Idaho-12302020-2.pdf
