A learning management system (LMS) is a software program for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, automation and delivery of educational courses, training programs, or learning and development programs.
What does it mean: An LMS is designed to support student learning. It's focused on online learning, but they are useful across the board to track students learning.
An LMS delivers and manages all types of content, including video, courses, and documents. In eduacation, an LMS will inclue a variety of features such as rubrics, teacher and instructor facilitated learning, a discussion board, and often the use of a syllabus.
Again, long story short: It's going to help us help your student in a more managed and predictable way.
We are excited to bring this kind of system to the district and train our teachers to use it. It's K-12, so everyone will experience an LMS experience Canvas.
