Darin Moon - Board Trustee, Zone 3
Darin was born and raised on a small family farm in Heyburn, Idaho. The farm was broken out of sage brush by Darin’s grandpa and his father eventually purchased the farm from the family. Darin’s father was a high school science teacher, so all of the farm work had to be done after school. Thru this, Darin was taught about the reward of hard work followed by example. Darin recalls, “I credit much of my success later in life to the lessons I learned from my dad while working on the family farm”.
Darin received a Bachelors of Science degree in Soil Science in 1989 from Utah State University. Upon graduation, his first career pursuit landed him a four-year stint on a corporate farm in the agricultural heart of Central California. The cutting-edge methodologies enacted by Darin as the farm’s superintendent reduced pesticide inputs by a state-documented 67% over a three-year period.
Darin moved back to the Burley area in 1993 and started Redox Chemicals, LLC. Darin received his first patent in 1997 and has since received 5 additional patents. Redox Chemicals has grown from a small 1 man operation to a worldwide business selling products in the United States and 32 other countries.
In 1988, Darin married Valerie Anderson. Working side by side, Darin and Valerie raised 5 children. Currently they have 5 grandchildren and are hoping for many more. Darin and Valerie both realize that they have been blessed to be able to live and raise their children in the Mini Cassia area. They both also realize that for their children to have the same opportunities, local educational opportunities must be available.
