• Parkin Welcome to US HISTORY II and History and Novels.  My name is Colleen Parkin and this will be my 32nd year of teaching social studies for Cassia School District. I am a new coach to Burley High School as a Trap Coach.  I supervise a co-ed high school trap team in the fall and the spring. We shoot at the Burley Trap Club and Sporting Clays Range.  I have a NRA level 1 coaching certificate and I am constantly working on the foundations of safety and shot gun shooting.

I graduated with a B.S. with a  Secondary Education/ Social Studies degree from Idaho State University  and a Masters in Education Curriculum from The University of Idaho.  My goal is to prepare students to understand and interpret a variety of historical areas and perspectives with the intention of encouraging a lifelong love of history.  I continue my studies every summer by attending history workshops.  The last two summers I have been an AP reader for the US HISTORY exam in Louisville Kentucky.  I also have a WSI IT, and teach folks to be swim instructors for the American Red Cross.  I have a passion for learning history and would like to pass that down to my students.  Some of my workshops have taken me to the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit, Michigan, The Presidential Academy that took 3 weeks and involved three major cities of history such as Philadelphia, Gettysburg, and Washington D.C.  I attended an American Revolution workshop that was held at Valley Forge.  I find such workshops in the summer get me geared  up to start school and share what new things I gained.  I  also enjoy skiing, camping, swimming and shooting sporting clays.  Hoping 2021/2022 is a great year for everyone!
