• Welcome to the world of literature and learning, where grammar sings, pictures speak, and books fly, where Shakespeare speaks Klingon and arguing leads to understanding. I love the English language. Reading, writing, interpreting and analyzing literature, and drawing connections between multiple media formats, both fiction and nonfiction, are all educational passions of mine.
The summer of 2017 I published my first book, Elements Combine, through self-publishing under the name S.E. Nielsen. It is available through Amazon.com as an e-book and print version at the link under the book cover. One can also contact and buy a book directly through me.
I am very happy to be a part of the magnificent faculty here at Burley High School.  I have been teaching here in Burley since 2003, beginning at Burley Junior High School. I graduated from Idaho State University with my Undergraduate.  In addition, I attained a Masters in ESL from Boise State University.  I am fluent in three languages: English, Portuguese, and Spanish. I am married and have three children.
I am passionate about teaching and try to show that passion through my instruction and interaction with students, peers, and parents. I hope to help any who come to my class engender a love for critical thinking, writing, and reading. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or requests for help.
