  • I'm grateful for the Burley Public Library

Posted by David Cole on 11/9/2021

I'm grateful for the Burley Public Library

Slightly more than a year ago, when we were looking at joining the Sora by OverDrive Online Reading App, I approached Burley Public Library Director Tayce Robinson about partnering with the school district so that all of our students would have access to their ebooks.

Thanks to Tayce's efforts, all CCSD staff and students now have access to the LIBRI System, Inc online collection through the Sora Reading App. LIBRI System, Inc is a coalition which includes the Burley, Rupert, and Jerome Public Libraries.

I am grateful to Tayce and the directors of the other libraries for sharing their resources with our students.

I continue to encourage all of my colleagues as well as the students I meet with to obtain a BPL card for multiple reasons. It provides needed funds to the BPL to continue to provide resources to all of us. It gives cardholders access to the Burley, Rupert, and Jerome print and digital collections. And lastly, cardholders can access multiple other digital collections.

All CCSD students and employees can borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and read-alongs from three libraries through Sora:

    • Cassia County School District
    • IDEA by ICfL *
    • LIBRI System, Inc. *
Anyone who has a Burley Public Library card--Free to Burley residents, $47.70/year for the rest of us--can also borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and read-alongs from these libraries/consortiums:
    • East Bonner County Library District **
    • Idaho Digital Consortium **
    • Kuna District Library **
    • LYNX Library Consortium **
    • Valnet **
    * when borrowing from these libraries in Sora, select CCSD as your library and use your school gmail to login.
** when borrowing from these libraries in Sora, select LIBRI System, Inc as your library and use your BPL card number and pin (last four digits of the card number) to login

The I Survived... books by Lauren Tarshis have been some of the most popular books at the junior highs and elementary schools in the district. • I Survived the Nazi Invasion, 1944
