On Monday, February 27 the 3rd Annual Times-News Regional Spelling Bee was held at Twin Falls High School Roper Auditorium. White Pine had three students participate; Kiana Robinson, Daniel Tharp, and Jessie Shaw. Daniel tied for 2nd place and Jessie was the winner. Jessie, a sixth grader, will represent South-Central Idaho at the Scripps National Spelling Bee May 28-June 3 in National Harbor, MD. This is the second year in a row that a Cassia student has won the regional bee and earned the right to compete at the national level. In 2016, Declo 8th grader Zach Hunsaker made it through the second round at the national bee before being eliminated. Congratulations to all of this years' participants, and good luck at nationals Jesse!
